Despite only having been in Los Angeles for four weeks, I have fallen completely in love with the city! In fact, although this may seem extremely hyperbolic, as soon I arrived at LAX and took the drive through the city to AVA Toluca Hills, I knew that LA and I were a perfect match. What’s not to love? Firstly, the weather is absolutely incredible and highly welcomed after experiencing Syracuse’s excruciating winters. It also triggers fond memories of the beautiful climate I experience whenever I go back home to Nairobi, Kenya. Secondly, the food scene is phenomenal! I’ve probably had my weight in taco’s by now, and I’m planning a trip to try out more of LA’s exquisite cuisine’s at Smorgasburg LA. Furthermore, there’s an abundance of things to do and see. My favourite experiences so far have been visiting the Malibu beach and Venice beach, taking a swim in the refreshingly cool waters and watching the incredible sunsets. But perhaps what has drawn me to this city the most is how welcoming and open the people are. Blame it on how much sunshine the city gets because Los Angelinos are some of the friendliest people I have ever met. I’m looking forward to spending the rest of my time this semester exploring this amazing city.
