Anita M. Cal is a versatile award-winning storyteller who’s had the opportunity to write, produce, and line produce with a diverse range of talent in the industry, from Taraji P. Henson to the legendary Rutger Hauer (Batman, Blade Runner) and Emmy winning rerecording sound mixer Michael Archacki. As a writer, she’s penned comedy for TBS’s Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” and “Meet The Browns,” as well as Colours TV’s “The Chin Chinns.”
Anita landed her first development deal with Showtime, Inc. for a feature family drama, “Kinfolks” while still in graduate school. Her screenplay, Fathers of God, a gripping thriller that exposes the grim secrets of Catholic priests, won a Garry Marshall Best Screenplay Award, Nicholl’s Fellowship semi-finalist, and Chesterfield Writer’s Film Project quarterfinalist recognition.
She is the creator and producer “Beyond the Badge,” a drama pilot that earned admission into the Seriesfest Film Festival. Currently, Anita’s writing a crime romance thriller for Lifetime network. A former Los Angeles Times cop and education reporter, Anita’s known by her college students as “Dr. C.
