UNLIKELY FAN

UNLIKELY FAN

By Maggie Siciliano

One of the reasons Syracuse University was so appealing to me initially was the SULA program. I remember hearing about all of the awesome opportunities that Syracuse and the Newhouse School provided to its students, and the LA semester was what stood out. You have to understand, as much as I wanted to go on the semester, I didn’t want to like it. I’m an East Coast Girl, so I was hoping to come over here, realize I had gotten it right the first time, and float back to happily east coast ever after. However, Los Angeles has a way of getting under your skin. Now that I’ve been here, and really experienced all of the things the city offers, I cannot imagine not returning. LA literally breathes with chances you can take, as long as you have some drive and initiative. There is always something to do, regardless of your tastes. Okay, so the traffic is pretty shotty, and yes, there are some slimy parts of the business we’re in, but when you find the right people and get in a groove, you begin to feel unstoppable. I can’t wait to see where the rest of the semester takes all of us.
