Trust Your Gut

Trust Your Gut

By Ken Kawada

I don’t know what it is, but ever since I got here, my creative juice has been on an overdrive. I feel more motivated, passionate, and even thrilled to go to class. Maybe it’s because I’m surrounded by other dreamers like myself, but whatever it is, it feels like home. It’s refreshing to be around people who have similar interests. I never thought I would have a conversation about how great the score for The Social Network was with my co-workers. I thought I watched a lot of movies, but the people who work in the entertainment industry really know their stuff.

I still have a lot to learn about this world. I’m testing the water with a company that I’m interning for, and so far, It’s been a fun experience. I’m very lucky to have an internship that I don’t dread every day. Sure it’s an hour away, thanks to LA traffic, but it’s all worth it.

If anyone is thinking about coming here for Fall or Spring semester, go for it! It’s an experience that you’ll never forget. The biggest takeaway from all of this is that you should trust your gut and take risks. Don’t play it safe. Even though I’m going back to Cuse in a few months, my journey in LA is not over. As cheesy as it sounds…it’s only the beginning.
