The 6th Street Market
By Sarah Shelton
I’ve always enjoyed putting on events, but by far my favorite one was the 6th Street Market pop-up event I put on for my summer internship in June for a lifestyle publication called LA CANVAS. We partnered with clothing brand Love Nail Tree and transformed their warehouse and driveway into a marketplace and beer garden. There were a lot of moving parts that came together that day, and I’m very proud to have been a big part of it. I arrived on site at 11 AM to begin the set up. My supervisor had to attend to another event for most of the day so I was in charge of a significant portion of it. I coordinated vendors, deliveries, security and staff while lifting, climbing, building and cleaning. A short eight hours later, we were open and ready for business. The final role I took on for the evening was that of a bartender, where I mixed drinks for hundreds of people in our sponsored beer garden all night. It was a great success and experience.
