I was recently invited to attend a screening of the new film Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) at The Academy of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Being a television, radio, and film major this was very exciting for me, especially since it is slated to be one of the big Oscar contenders this year. I walked through the antiseptic building and felt a little overwhelmed, but the minute I sat down in the velvet red theater I felt at home. Not even the two over sized golden Oscars could intimidate me. After a while the film came on and I was mesmerized. From the opening credits, until the end of the panel of director, Alejandro Inarritu, and actors Edward Norton and Andrea Riseborough all I could was think of was how badly I wanted to be here in Los Angeles. It was an incredible opportunity that solidified my entertainment dreams and a moment I would not have been able to have if I had not studied at SU LA. All in all, being in Los Angeles has created many opportunities for me and established strong connections both at and outside of my internship. I cannot imagine not have coming here, and I strongly advise every student interested in working within the entertainment industry to do so. I promise you will not regret it.
