When I first landed in LA, I had no idea what to expect. I didn’t really know anyone else in the program, and it was my first time ever experiencing the West Coast. But I knew that a career in the entertainment industry was what I really wanted to do with my life. And now that I’m here, I can easily say it’s the best decision I have made at my time at Syracuse. Adjusting to city life has been fun, there is always something to do here and way too many good places to eat. It seems like every time I turn around this city is throwing something new my way. Where else will you be able to watch a screening of “Don Jon” with James Franco in attendance? Or randomly run into Mickey Avalon in the Starbucks around the corner?

My internship is with 44 Blue Productions, a reality television production company right in Studio City. So far it has been a huge step in getting my foot in the door. I have gotten to network with and befriend many impressive people in the industry. Besides research my internship has allowed me to get PA experience, learn the AVID editing software, and sharpen my pitching skills.

Coming to LA has been a very rewarding experience for me, and I highly recommend doing it if you’re serious about pursuing a career in entertainment. If you come, make sure you do the things exclusive to Los Angeles. Go to Venice, hit up Malibu, see what Hollywood is like, try In-N-Out, take advantage of the night life, go to screenings, and try your luck at stand-up. Honestly I can’t wait to see what this city has in store for me next after I graduate. I’m counting down the days!
