NYC vs. LA

NYC vs. LA

By Kirby Cook

I am the type of person who tends to have a plan for everything, and my plan was always to move straight to NYC after graduation and delve headfirst into my career. Los Angeles was furthest from my mind, but after a conversation with a fellow classmate, I made the decision to spend the spring semester of my senior year away from all of my friends, and more importantly my comfort zone, to partake in the SULA program.

While at this point I have only been here for a little under a month, I can already tell it was the right decision. Being the only student representing the Bandier Program for Music and the Entertainment Industries this semester, the endless possibilities excited me beyond measure. Aside from my internship, I have already facilitated numerous connections that I know will be beneficial in the long run, and have opened my eyes to the possibility of a career and life on the West Coast, which I never thought to be an option before.

I am eager to continue my journey here in LA. Being in such a creative and bustling environment for entertainment is inspiring, and the possibilities are endless. I plan to take full advantage of everything around me, and make it the semester that changed my life forever.
