Los Angeles is a magical land filled with many wonderful foods. There are so many fantastic places to try that it may even seem overwhelming. There’s great Thai food, Korean BBQ and, of course, Mexican food. Before I came out to LA I knew that I had to find the burrito to end all burritos. They hold a special place in my heart. People said it was impossible, but I accepted the challenge. I said goodbye to the Syracuse Chipotle and began my search January 3rd when I hopped off the plane at LAX (with a dream and my cardigan).
So far, I have tried many burritos from all over LA. I’ve been to Burbank, Venice, Santa Monica, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, but the search is not yet over. LA is vast and the burrito search could take years. There are many elements to assess. There’s the salsa, the guac, meat, cheese etc. The options are endless. Halfway through my semester in LA, I have found that my favorite has actually come from a hidden gem in Burbank right near the Oakwood. On recommendation from some LA friends, I checked it out, fell in and love and the rest is history. It’s called Fiesto Taco. There is even a self-serve salsa bar. What more could you ask for?
My search will continue as I eat my way through LA and I have many more burritos to try, but I am confident that I will find the best burrito in Los Angeles. Here’s to the second half of my LA semester! May it be filled with sunshine, beaches, and burritos.
