Learning How To Drive Again
By Sydney Shulman
When I first got my letter of acceptance to Syracuse university I was told by literally everyone that the winter was the worst but I didn’t believe them until I saw it myself. The same goes with the LA traffic. Never in my life have I seen so many cars backed up on one freeway, and I am from an extremely crowded area in New York. No warning could’ve prepared me for what it was like to want to bang your head against the steering wheel after a 10 minute drive takes you 45 minutes. Although frustrating, it doesn’t come close to how frustrating Parking is which means there never is any. Although miserable, it has greatly increased my confidence as a driver. After getting into my first accident at 18 I was spooked. I never drove anywhere and would make my parents and friends chauffeur me around even though i had a perfectly good license. I needed the hustle and bustle of California driving to thrust me into a more relaxed albeit aggressive way of driving. No more chauffeuring this girl around!
