What is it about Los Angeles that makes people try so hard to be healthy? I have consumed more kale in the past month than my entire family has in their lifetimes. I think it has something to do with either the good weather or the fact that the entertainment industry puts so much stress on your life you can’t afford any more damage to your body. A good majority of the industry veterans who have spoken to our class have told us that we are crazy. You can tell that they mean it. Their faces all look drained, tired, and burnt out. We are joining an industry that requires so much more than just a 9 to 5 commitment. You’re work consumes your entire life and even then there is no guarantee that you will even be moderately successful. So then why are there 60 students from Newhouse and VPA out here trying their best to become a part of this world? There must be something all of us have in common. We have a passion for film/tv/music that burns so much that we don’t care that we might not have the craziest social life or start getting grey hairs at 30. That passion is what makes it worth it. Or the kale might just be making us crazy.
