Coming to LA for the very first time in my life, I was very unsure of what to expect. The opinions I kept receiving were mixed. On one hand, some people thought it was dirty and uninteresting. On the other, some people had the time of their lives in this city, and would kill to come back here. A month in now, I side with the latter.
This city has really turned out to be rife with opportunities and open doors I would have never imagined could ever appear in my life. I’ve connected with people who are in positions of power that are willing to lend a hand and be there for my professional growth. As Robin has told us time and time again, there is a benefit to being a student because everyone wants to be the one that helps. And the reality of situation is that I’ve found myself extremely busy in Los Angeles, which was a scary to hear about at first, considering the intensity of both taking classes and having an internship. But I’ve come to learn that you can be busy, and also not be stressed.
One thing I’m thankful I did before I came here was to create a list of places I want to go to before the semester ends (shoutout to Buzzfeed’s “Worth It?” for the long list of food establishments). It’s been a little hard to keep up with, but as long as I force myself out of Oakwoods, I’m good to go. I am, no doubt, living my best life out here.
