From living out here in sunny Los Angeles for the past two months, I’ve come to realize that anything can happen. Sometimes, it is from determination and perseverance, and at other times, all you need is a little bit of luck on your side. This luck can happen in the form of beating traffic (which rarely occurs), but my luck occurred when my name was chosen to be a seat filler at the Grammy Awards. Getting dressed up and earning the opportunity to sit among the most talented artists of our generation was one of the coolest experiences of my life and something I would not trade for the world! Sitting rows behind Beyonce and Jay-Z, seeing the look on Sam Smith’s face when he received his third award of the night, and watching people’s reactions to another Kanye controversy was a once in a lifetime experience.
SULA provides us with so many experiences, networking opportunities, real-world assignments in class, and great times to share with the great people we get to share them with. I have met so many successful executives that have taught me that the unwillingness to give up is key to success. There will be tough times, but that day will come.
Celebrity sightings through my internship and other unlikely places have also been a great part of LA. From seeing Tamara from “Awkward” in Target Burbank to Mario Lopez and Val Chmerkovskiy at Universal, I am determined to get a picture with these celebs one day! For now, I am making the most of my time left here and enjoying everyday.
