The LA semester for me is a chance to experience college at home for the first time ever. I’ve spent 3 years now at school in New York, but nothing is quite like the place I grew up, beautiful and sunny Southern California. School for me has always begun with a plane flight across the country. When I got on that plane headed for the east coast, I knew it was time for school. This program and this semester gave me a new outlook on school as I really am getting a feel for what it is going to be like in the “real world” in just a few short months now. Different than a majority of the students this year, I am living and working at home. It truly does feel like a different lifestyle, and so far I am definitely a huge fan of it. Everyday getting to wake up and go to work for a production company where we are responsible for putting together and creating shows for television. I’ve been literally under 5 miles form the wonderful world of Hollywood since I was born and only half a mile from the great Disney studios which has helped form my passion to put things on the big screen. This semester has given me the most tools and support to actually achieve that goal than I have ever received in my life. As for time management, it has definitely been a bit of a jump and takes some getting used to. I am taking 18 credits as well as working an internship 3 days a week which I first want to say is very doable, just, like I said, takes some getting used to. I’ve had stressful school schedules before with sports as well as classes but a work schedule takes up more time than you can imagine. Personally, I love it. Putting this much time and effort into something that I genuinely love and enjoy is what I have built my whole life to and it feels like a dream come true to actually be doing it. This has only made me want to work even harder to make this a true reality in a few months when I come right back here from Syracuse to get a life started living on my own working in the industry I have always loved.
