I’ve been thinking about taking on painting as a new hobby. Yesterday I went to Venice beach and when I started walking the boardwalk there were so many painters and artists sharing their work. My friend offered to buy me one and I could not even pick a piece, because I grew to enjoy them all. From portraits to watercolor landscapes and unique designs, walking the strip at Venice Beach was like walking through an art gallery filled with different and vibrant artists who were all open to talk with people as they passed by and admired. I’ve been wondering what to paint; yet everything around me is such a breath of fresh air and incredible scenery. Driving through California, whether it’s stuck in bumper to bumper traffic in Hollywood or riding in between the hills and admiring the LA skyline, has become a therapeutic hobby. Now that I have my easel set up on the balcony and my paint supplies ready to use, I can finally sit and reflect. I have no clue what whimsical dream of a city will come out onto the canvas but I’m sure California’s daily inspirations will bring a newfound light to the page.
