Eating My Way Through LA
By Natalie Falk
I’m a New Jersey girl through and through, so the thought of moving across the country for a few months made me nervous for several reasons — mainly, what was I going to do without NJ pizza and bagels?
…Alright, I guess there were a few other reasons I was nervous, too. The months leading up to my move to Los Angeles, the phrase “career driven” was the primary description for the upcoming semester. And while it helped to know what I was getting myself into, I wished the word “fun” was thrown in there a bit more often. This semester is definitely a lot of hard work, and an excellent way to jump start your career, but it’s also a new and exciting time to explore an amazing city.
My advice to future LA Semester students would be to make this semester about your future, but not just your future career. Explore the city and enjoy yourself (and the weather) as much as you can before it’s time to head back to Syracuse. And definitely eat at as many places you can! What the West Coast lacks in New Jersey pizza and bagels, it makes up for in In N Out burgers and four dollar gourmet sushi.
